Jakarta - PR. BRIN. The National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN) is proud to represent Indonesia in the 86th ASEAN Committee on Science, Technology, and Innovation (ASEAN COSTI-86) & Related Meetings, which takes place on October 7-11, 2024 at Sheraton Towers Singapore. BRIN's presence is a strategic step to enhance Indonesia's leadership role in research and innovation collaboration across ASEAN countries. Especially ahead of Indonesia's leadership in ASEAN COSTI in 2025.

One of the biggest achievements in this meeting was the success of the BRIN delegation in obtaining a joint agreement, with all ASEAN countries and the ASEAN Secretariat. The agreement is in the form of a High-Performance Computing (HPC) infrastructure grant from the Republic of Korea. The HPC infrastructure that will be placed in Indonesia is expected to be a game changer for research and innovation in various fields, including big data, artificial intelligence, and complex scientific simulations.

In addition to maintaining Indonesia's trust, the Indonesian COSTI delegation also encouraged changes in business processes in ASEAN COSTI that were more collaborative and open. The BRIN delegation invited ASEAN countries to engage more actively in the programs offered, especially to create more effective and innovative collaborations.
