AKSTCC, under the supervision of MSIT, will implement such tasks like the R&D joint program/capacity building projects, developing of new cooperation programs, promoting STI policy, knowledge-sharing and collaboration among researchers and STI policy-makers of ASEAN country and ROK through scholarship programs, field training, and other academic events.

AKSTCC was established to is to facilitate mutual understanding of the demands of both ASEAN and ROK on S&T and to further develop those understandings into beneficial collaborations.
The primary activities of this center will consist of functioning as a platform for S&T investment promotion, participating in related sectorial meetings, and leading S&T cooperation opportunities as a collaborative gateway across ASEAN member states.
AKSTCC will foster dialogue and promote partnerships in a wide range of activities to expand R&D investment opportunities with key counterparts such as AMS national S&T authorities, ASEAN Secretariat, public sector and local community, universities, research institutes, non-governmental organizations and foundations, civil society organizations (CSOs), local and international media, youth scientist groups, and so on. In addition to its core activities in ASEAN, the center will contribute to the reinforcement of dialogue and partnerships with multilateral International organizations related to ASEAN in the S&T field.
AKSTCC will put forward its best efforts to fulfil its mission of promoting scientific and technical cooperation between the two nations and to expand its professional networks in the field of science and technology. AKSTCC has become one of the most influential organizations to promote the application of science and technology.
