The National Research and Innovation Agency of the Republic of Indonesia (BRIN) has emphasized the importance of strengthening an integrated, ethical, and inclusive artificial intelligence (AI) ecosystem based on high performance computing (HPC) to support competitiveness and sustainable development in the Southeast Asian region.

BRIN’s Deputy for Research and Innovation Policy, Boediastoeti Ontowirjo, stated that AI and HPC are two transformative forces that have become key drivers of the global digital economy. AI holds significant potential to accelerate innovation, enhance economic competitiveness, and support the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). However, the large-scale implementation of AI is highly dependent on strong and advanced computing capabilities.
