On November 14, the Philippines officially launched its ASEAN Chairship for 2026 under the theme “Navigating Our Future, Together.

” President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. outlined three overarching priorities: Peace and Security Anchors, Prosperity Corridors and People Empowerment. These “Three Ps” reflect a Chairship anchored on regional stability, inclusive economic growth, and the upliftment of ASEAN’s people an ambitious agenda given the strategic challenges confronting Southeast Asia.

Under its 2026 chairship, the Philippines seeks to reinforce established regional norms, advance maritime cooperation grounded in international law and ASEAN Centrality, expand dialogue platforms, and bolster the bloc’s resilience against traditional and non-traditional security challenges, including climate risks.
